Meet our team
The Ben Fowler Consulting team brings 20+ years of diverse commercial building experience including facilities operations and management, building efficiency optimization, and more than a decade of experience in major academic project commissioning.
We offer an effective mix of hands-on and technical engineering analysis to projects of all sizes throughout multiple industries. As a small firm, we’re able to ensure a client-centered approach and provide a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness alongside a depth of technical expertise.
Ben Fowler, P.E., QCxP, Principal
Ben is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Vermont, holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire, and is certified as a qualified commissioning provider (QCxP) by the University of Wisconsin’s BCxA recognized commissioning provider program. Ben brings over a dozen years of commercial building commissioning experience to the team. He is professionally interested in building automation systems and optimization of building controls, computer networking and wireless technology with commercial building applications, and the industrial internet of things (IIoT). Ben has always been fascinated by the interaction of complex systems like buildings with the humans who manage them and the inherent challenges complexity places on the ability to operate buildings efficiently.
Ben is a member of ASHRAE, the New England Hospital Engineers Society (NEHES), and the Building Commissioning Association.
Erin Perkins, Commissioning Engineer
Erin is a facilities operations veteran, with over 10 years in facilities project planning, MEP project implementation, general contracting, and system problem solving. From Erin’s experience in working nearly 8 years in facilities operations and management at a remote-location commercial facility in the Gulf of Maine, Erin brings focus of system maintainability and reliability to commissioning activities. Erin provides project management, commissioning field verification support for Ben Fowler Consulting.
Elizabeth Ford Wilkins, PE, QCxP, Senior Cx Engineer
Elizabeth is a licensed professional engineer, a qualified commissioning provider by the University of Wisconsin, a LEED-accredited (BD+C) professional in building design and construction, and a certified healthcare constructor (CHC) by the American Hospital Association. Elizabeth has been providing commercial building commissioning services for 14 years. Elizabeth manages all aspects of commissioning projects, from design development through bid and construction until final occupancy.
Derek Siegler, P.E. BPI
Founder of Rush Meadow Consulting
Derek Siegler is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Vermont and brings extensive engineering, design, and project management experience to the team. Derek also holds a BPI certification for building enclosure testing with experience stretching back more than a decade in commercial and residential building enclosure evaluation. He has worked on a variety of complex projects with diverse requirements including hospital operating rooms, precision medical manufacturing facilities, municipal buildings, multi-family residences, commercial restaurants and breweries, dormitories, and university buildings. Derek has extensive geothermal design and design peer review experience. Derek provides MEP design review services, submittal review, and equipment verification and testing support to the Ben Fowler Consulting Team.
Marcus Jones, Controls Technical Specialist
Founder of Living Buildings LCC
Marcus Jones is a building control systems expert, with years in the trenches providing hands-on control system programming and implementation with a leading controls vendor. More recently, Marcus spent nearly 8 years at Efficiency Vermont (EVT) where he was instrumental in the design of EVTs Flexible Load Management (FLM) Demand Response program, among other controls and energy efficiency-related focus areas. Through his company, Living Buildings LLC, Marcus augments the BFC team capabilities by focusing on energy metering infrastructure, control systems design review, monitoring-based commissioning, and controls testing support.
